Stove-Top Brewing

(a typical stove-top...except for July 15th, where I recirculated for about a decade!  I am an ingrate.)

7:00am saturday - way too early.   The Master-Beer Calculator

  Ingredients.  20#grain, 4.5oz hops.

Mash-Tun and recirculating pump.    Close-up, note sturdy pump support.

The Mash.  150F, 1hour.  Getting sparge water ready at 170F on the right.

More mash -  mmmm, smells good.    Close-up or the mash-bed.

Mash out to 170F, start recirculating.  Notice cloudiness at beginning.

  Totally clear!!!

The sparge after recirculation.  Sparging into boil kettle at 170F.

Pump turned off unexpectedly - too hot.  Had to manually sparge last few gallons.

Bringing to a boil on the right.

  Spent grains.  NO sweetness left!

  Post boil cool down.

Fermenter action!!!   Pretty maids, all in a row.

  Perfect gravity!

May 7, 2003

Haha!  CO2 racking into 5gal corny.  Gotta take some fresh beer to florida in a few days.  1028 sounds good, it was done fermenting the soonest.  Check out the pics...

...and notice that impeccable aeseptic technique!!!

The only good use for Bud - soaking new beer filters.

Filtering Daves scottish ale - i noticed no difference in clarity.

Filtering my english pale ale (wyeast 1028).

  Pretty maids...all in a row.
